Michael Boyle and Dermot McCafferty were victorious on the latest round of the Triton Showers National Rally Championship held in County Carlow last weekend.
Boyle/McCafferty were onboard a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 and took a 4.5s win over Co. Monaghan Motor Club CLG member Cathan McCourt with Barry McNulty on the notes, driving a similar Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
Monaghan man Josh Moffett navigated by Keith Moriarty driving a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 finished on 3rd place 13.5s off the winning pace.

Pierce O’Callaghan on the notes for Jonathan Pringle finished 11th overall and took the modified win as well as the win in class 14.

Gary McPhillips/Enda Sherry finished 13th overall and took 2nd in class 14.

Finishing right behind them in 14th and taking 3rd in class 14 was Johno Doogan/Paul Lennon.

Michael Carbin/Conor Mohan teaming up once again finished 18th overall and 6th in class 14.

Ryan Farrell navigating for Stephen Faughnan finished 21st overall and 7th in class 14.
Dessie Keenan/Jason ‘Wee Pete’ McKenna finished 25th overall and 10th in class 14.

Calum Maguire guided Jack Brennan to 39th overall and 4th in class 4 onboard a Ford Fiesta Rally3. Jack Maguire/Keith McConnon finished 45th overall and 2nd in class 11F. James McCarville/Arthur Kierans finished 48th overall and 5th in class 13.
Maurice Moffett making a rare appearance finished in 59th position overall with last year’s Sligo Pallets Border Rally Championship winning navigator Adam Langan on the notes.

Martin McPhillips/Peter Farrell finished just behind them in 60th overall and took 2nd in class 11R.

Gary McCrudden navigating for Paidi Hamill finished in 64th overall and 6th in class 13.
Ciaran Sherry and Nigel Brennan finished 91st overall and 4th in class 12.

Killian McArdle was in Sweden last weekend navigating for Casey Jay Coleman. Casey Jay and Killian were using Rally Nyköping NRC as a test event in preparation for the next round of the Fiesta Rally3 Trophy ‘Bauhaus Royal Rally of Scandinavia’ which takes place this coming weekend. In Rally Nyköping, Casey Jay and Killian took their Ford Fiesta Rally3 to 10th place overall and 1st in the NRC3 category.
There were a number of Co. Monaghan Motor Club CLG members competing in the latest rally sport association event held at Shackleton Barracks, Ballykelly Co. Derry last weekend. Youngster Jack Treanor scored the win in the junior class with his Škoda Citigo. Jack had a 17.9s victory over the driver who finished in 2nd place, and claimed the win on six out of the seven stages. On accepting his trophy, Jack announced that he learned all his driving skills manoeuvring his father’s Toyota Starlet around cones at the McAree Engineering yard during the autotest event last February. Jack also won the Junior section that day despite being hampered by excess weight in the car.
In class 6, Gerry Cassidy in his Ford Escort finished in 2nd place. PJ Woods, also in a Ford Escort finished in 7th place. Gerry Cassidy’s son Gary took the victory in class 7, by just 2.7s. Seamie Connolly finished 6th in the same class in his Toyota Corolla Twin-Cam. In class 5, Shane Maguire finished in 5th place in his Ford Fiesta R5.
Motor Club Open Meeting
Calling all members, supporters and anyone interested in getting involved with Motorsport to attend our open meeting on Friday 22nd May at 8pm in the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan.
Important topics such as our Monaghan Stages Rally, Rally Rules updates, Marshalling, the new Competitor Contribution Scheme and much more will be discussed on the night.

County Monaghan Motor Club CLG would like to pass their condolences to the Barrett family, on the sad passing of Kevin Barrett. A gentleman man who did so much for the sport we love. Rest in peace Kevin.
