The final round of the M-Sport Fiesta Rally3 Trophy 2026 took place in Czechia last week.
There was no luck for Monaghan motor club members Killian McArdle and Paul McPhillips as both navigators were forced to retire from the event.
Killian and his driver Casey Jay Coleman had to retire after the fanbelt in their Ford Fiesta Rally3 broke during SS9.
Paul McPhillips navigating for Cian Caldwell retired on SS3.
Westmeath and District Motor Club hosted their Endurance Trial recently.
Mathew McKenna and Ciaran Maguire took their Toyota Starlet to 5th place overall and secured 1st in class A2N.
Evin Hughes guided Karl O’Donoghue to 7th place and 2nd in class A2M.
The next round of the Škoda Parts Ireland Endurance Championship will be the Monaghan Endurance Trial hosted by ourselves on Sunday September 6th.
The Monaghan Endurance had originally been scheduled to take place on July 26th, but had to be postponed as it was all hands on deck to reorganise the Ronnie Hawe stages rally scheduled for the following week.
Garry Farrelly and team have been hard at work getting the endurance trial up and running again. Regulations and entry will be available very soon.
Charity Static Car Show & Shine
Co. Monaghan Motor Club was delighted to present the proceeds of its annual Charity Static Car Show & Shine to two local charities; SOSAD and Monaghan Crocus Cancer Support. A total of €3600 was raised, thanks to the efforts of Fintan and Marian Larmer, who once again organised a very successful show.
They wish to thank everyone who supported the fundraising effort, whether through sponsoring spot prizes, attending the show or making money donations. The proceeds were divided equally between the two charities.
Navigation Classes
The navigation trial season is fast approaching and Co. Monaghan Motor Club is gearing up for that all important season kick start with the annual navigation classes. If you have a motorsport interest of any kind, the Navigation Trials are the best form of obtaining the correct ‘foundation’ for this sport. The scheduled classes will cover the full range of topics including map reading, timing, car regulations, endurance trials and pace notes for stage rallying.
The classes will begin on Friday September 4th at 7pm sharp in the excellent facilities of the Aughnamullen GAA Centre. All those interested should message our Facebook page or email oisinsherlock97@gmail.com to book a place for the classes. Registration will also include 2026 club membership, maps, romer and all necessary paperwork to complete the 5-week course. The first navigation Trial of the season will be hosted by ourselves on Saturday night October 3rd.
AGM
The Monaghan Motor Club CLG Annual General Meeting will take place in the Four Seasons Hotel in Monaghan Town on
Thursday night September 17th.
All 2026 Monaghan Motor Club CLG members are encourage to attend. Nomination forms will be available soon.
Down Rally
On the R Kings Competitions Down Rally 2026 last weekend Arthur Kierans guided Alan Carmichael to 6th overall in their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 and Adam Langan navigated David Porter to 33rd overall in their Ford Fiesta R5.
Galway Summer Rally
Josh Moffett and Keith Moriarty continued their winnings ways at the Galway Summer Rally last weekend.
Josh and Keith took their Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 to a 7.6s win over the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 of Kevin Eves/Chris Melly.
Daniel McKenna/Andrew Grennan took their Ford Escort MkII to 6th overall and 2nd in class 14.
This result also secured them the King of the MK2 award on the event.
Justin Smyth/Ciaran McGorman finished 38th overall and took 3rd in class 12.
Cathal Sheridan/Barry McArdle finished 72nd overall and took 1st in class 10.
National navigation champions Pakie Duffy and Evin Hughes finished 117th overall and 2nd in class 3.
New South Wales
In the land down under Macartan Kierans guided Richie Dalton to the overall win on Heat 1, Heat 2 and Heat 3 of the Ada River Rally 2026.
This hattrick of wins has turned the NSW Rally Championship 2026 on its head as Richie and Macartan now hold a slender 2-point championship lead with just one event left to run (2 heats).
Richie and Macartan’s championship charge had been dented considerably following a retirement on Heat 1 of both the Narooma Forest Rally and the Rally of the Bay.
