Killian McArdle guided Casey Jay Coleman to third overall at the Wexford Stages Rally.

The crew led from the start in their Skoda Fabia Rally2, building a 24.4 second lead after five stages.

And overshoot on the following stage saw them lose more than three minutes stuck in a drain. They fought back and took ten stages wins over the weekend to climb back to the final podium spot by the end of the rally, which was won by Daniel Cronin and Padraig O’Donovan.

Ciaran Sherry and Adam Langan took Class 12 honours in their Ford Escort MK2, leading from start to finish.

There was plenty of Irish interest at the Escort Rally Special event in Belgium. The event had 96 Escorts on the entry list and featured drivers like former WRC driver Mikko Hirvonen.

The rally was won by Chris O’Callaghan and JJ Cremin, in what was an Irish lock-out of the podium. Kaine Treanor was on the notes for Ed O’Callaghan and finished sixth. Gerry McGivney made the trip over with Ray Duffy. They finished 12th in class.
